Gurpreet Lail, President and CEO

Gurpreet Lail is a proven executive with a track record of leadership success building alliances, developing value added programs, growing revenues, fund raising and achieving positive policy outcomes that benefit Canadians broadly. A lawyer by education and strategic leader by experience, Lail’s career includes more than 20 years in policy accomplishments and government advocacy across Western Canada and at national levels from progressive roles at the Fraser Institute; Manning Center; as Executive Director of Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS), President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Calgary, and in her current role as President and CEO of Enserva.

Throughout her career, Gurpreet has been a staunch advocate for Canadian energy and knows firsthand the positive contributions it makes to the Canadian economy. While at STARS for 8 years, Gurpreet helped expand the foundation from Alberta to cover three provinces across the western Canadian sedimentary basin and she was the executive lead working with Enserva on the STARS and SPURS Gala that has now raised more than $18 million for STARS across 27 years and counting.

Gurpreet grew up and was educated in Alberta with a degree in political science from the University of Lethbridge and a degree in law from the University of Alberta. While she has worked mainly in Calgary, her work includes accomplishments across Western Canada and nationally. She resides in Calgary with her husband and 2 children.

Andrea Hardie, P.Eng., Director, Health and Safety

With over 20 years as a strategic leader and engineer within the energy industry and with both the provincial and federal governments, Andrea brings an extensive background on the inner workings of regulatory environments, technical issues facing industry, operational leadership, and building effective stakeholder and government relationships. She currently represents member interests in negotiations with federal and provincial governments on health, safety, transportation, and other diverse technical issues faced by the energy services industry.

Outside of work pursuits, Andrea enjoys travel, a great glass of wine, and exploring with her dog. Having previously trained as a classical soprano, and now with two daughters who are involved in dance and acrobatic gymnastics, Andrea is also an active participant in Calgary’s arts scene.

Nancy Wanye, Policy Analyst

Nancy is a bilingual public policy professional with cross-sector experience in the public service, energy industry, and non-profit sectors. She is a skilled and solution-driven professional with a strong background in stakeholder engagement, strategy, communications, project management, and research and analysis skills. She joined Enserva as a Policy Analyst to help advance advocacy for energy services companies.

Previously, she worked as an Advocacy Advisor for the Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Calgary where she led the organization’s stakeholder relations, research and advocacy, issue management, in support of the Board of Directors’ mandates. She holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Calgary, and a Bilingual Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. Nancy is passionate about civic engagement, and community building.

Mattie McMillan, Policy Analyst

Mattie brings knowledge and deep strategic experience to the table. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Mattie started her career in policy as the VP External for the University of Calgary’s Students’ Union, later becoming the Constituency Manager of Calgary-Cross and more recently supporting industrial & trade reforms as well as system overhauls in Alberta, the Prairies, and across Canada. As a retired officer supporting the Canadian Cadet Organization, Mattie focused on empowering systems and departments for streamlined & long-haul operations. They deployed resources growing inter-cultural and external relationships. Amongst other taskings they served as the youngest Commanding Officer of RCSCC UNDAUNTED as well as the Director of Music aboard HMCS QUADRA.

They hold a Masters of Science in Public Policy & Management from SOAS, University of London and a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary.

Joshua Scrimshaw, Communications and Stakeholder Relations

Joshua is driven by a deep-seated passion for advancing Canada’s critical energy infrastructure and ushering in a new era of energy advocacy. Born and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, he comes from a family with a long history of involvement in Canada’s energy sector, which has instilled in him a keen sense of purpose and a desire to promote innovation, community engagement, and relationship building within the industry.

Graduating from Mount Royal University with a Bachelors in Communications and nearly ten years of experience divided between energy production, mechanical field work, and industry advocacy, Joshua is well-equipped to pursue his goals of showcasing industry innovation and expanding Canada’s energy infrastructure.

January assumed the role of general manager of AMGAS in 2007 after a career in the banking industry. Her leadership helped move AMGAS from an Alberta focused service company to a world player in H2S and BTEX control, offering equipment, chemicals, expertise and on-site service to ensure optimal efficiency and tailor-made solutions to customers domestic and abroad. January was appointed president of AMGAS in 2011, the youngest president in the company’s 25-year history.

Tenaris Global Services (Canada) Inc.

David is responsible for improving Tenaris’ strategic and economic performance through the development of institutional, commercial, and supplier relationships. He joined Tenaris in 1999, helping to open the commercial office in Canada before accepting a role with the Central Marketing team in Argentina. David has an MBA from the University of Illinois specializing in International Business, Strategy, and Marketing. He also has a Business degree from the University of Regina and degrees in Public Administration and History from the University of Saskatchewan. David sits on the board of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association and is Chair of the Trade Committee of the Canadian Steel Producers Association.

Kevin O’Brien

Bravo Target Safety LP

Kevin works for Bravo Target Safety, one of the largest industrial safety contractors in Canada, providing personnel and equipment to facility turn-arounds and well-sites. Kevin is a professional engineer who helped grow private company IMV Projects Inc. from 30 to 650 employees over six years. Kevin took the reins as COO, then President of IMV Projects during the global economic downturn in 2009 and subsequently helped double its employee base and exceed annual revenues of$160 million. In 2015, Kevin left the engineering world, which led to his current role as CEO of Bravo Target Safety. Kevin is also a Director of the Canadian Energy Executive Association (CEEA).

Dirk has been President of Di-Corp since 2011. Prior to that, Dirk held the roles of VP of Marketing and VP of Operations at D-Corp. Dirk has a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

Tyler Dahlseide
President
Ferus Inc.

Tyler is responsible for overseeing the operations and development of Ferus’ nitrogen and carbon dioxide businesses in North America. In 2007, Tyler joined Ferus’ Business Development team where he focused on performing research and followed developments in the transportation sector leading to the subsequent expansion of Ferus’ energized fracturing fluids business into the United States. Tyler holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta with concentrations in Finance and Operations Research.

Sandi is a member of the Whitefish (Goodfish) Lake First Nation#128. He was a surveyor’s assistant throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories before obtaining a diploma in Management Studies from MacEwan University. He worked for the Community Economic Development Department with the Whitefish Lake First Nation before entering politics as a council member, serving 18 consecutive years. He has been involved and continues to serve with many regional, provincial and national boards and organizations, focused on business and community development. He is currently an Industry Relations / Business Development Officer with Pimee Well Servicing LP.

Murray has three decades of experience in the energy services industry in Canadian and international markets. He has held several senior leadership roles in operations, sales and strategic marketing over the course of his career, including senior positions with one of the largest energy services firms in the world.

Schlumberger Canada Limited

Mark has worked for more than three decades with Schlumberger, including field, staff and management positions in a variety of locations around the world. His roles have included VP of Schlumberger’s surface seismic business, based in United Arab Emirates and the UK, and most recently as VP Health, Safety and Environment for Schlumberger North America, based in Houston. Educated in Canada, Mark began his career as a summer student technician in 1984 with Schlumberger’s surface seismic segment.

Steve Glanville

STEP Energy Services Ltd.

Steve has served as chief operating officer of STEP Energy Services Ltd. since its inception in March 2011 and has been vice-president, operations since November 2013. He is a co-founder of the company and is a certified engineering technologist with more than 20 years of oilfield experience. Steve’s background includes 10 years with Schlumberger Limited, working with the company’s North American oilfield services divisions, and seven years with Sanjel, managing the Canadian coiled tubing and nitrogen business unit. Most recently, he spent two years with Calfrac Well Services Ltd. as manager of the Canadian coiled tubing division. Steve is a former president of ICoTA Canada.
